Spring Term 1
In Sapling Class, we have been doing lots of activities related to our topic 'Amazing Pets/Animals'. We have made cat masks, robins, hedgehogs and a painted pig plate. We also enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year with the children trying noodles and prawn crackers. We made some Chinese Lanterns and cut out some spiral snakes to celebrate the year of the snake, which helped to build scissor skills too. The children have also made some Valentines cards and baked and decorated heart shaped biscuits for mummy and daddy which they thoroughly enjoyed. We are now looking forward to a new topic starting next term, more information on this will be in our newsletter.

Autumn Term 2
Saplings have had a busy Autumn Term 2. We have been doing lots of activities involving our topic which has been 'Traditional Tales'. This has involved baking, making masks, gingerbread men on sticks and some topic related worksheets building on hand eye co-ordination, pencil skills and sequencing. We have also been enjoying practising the nativity with Acorn and Beech class in preparation for the church service, which is a great experience for Saplings. We have given our allotment some tender loving care and have done some planting in preparation ready for spring. We have been for walks around the village, hunting out Christmas decorations and looking at the church grounds, and explored the nature trail with our welly boots, climbing on branches and bug hunting.
Autumn Term 1
This term, we have been doing activities about our topic 'All about me' which included painting self-portraits, exploring emotion cards, which gave the children opportunities to discuss their feelings, a collage of themselves and lots of discussions in circle time about the differences between themselves and their families.
We have also been out and about in the local community, enjoying nature and village walks, we also did some last minute weeding at our allotment and have now put it 'to bed' for the winter.
Sapling class have baked and decorated some autumn biscuits and also made autumn coloured collage pumpkins, and have been gathering twigs and moss etc to make our bonfire pictures.
We have been using the school hall for a range of activities including an obstacle course where the children explore different ways of moving and achieving their own personal challenges.
